BlackBerry has volunteered BlackBerry Messenger instant messaging service (BBM) will be available for iPhone and Android. BlackBerry founder Mike Lazaridis believes that iPhone and Android users will welcome the arrival of BBM.
"BBM gives the most exciting experience of wireless and social networking environment," Lazaridis said in an interview with Bloomberg in Toronto, Canada, on Wednesday (05/22/2013).
He said, the decision BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins to take off the BBM as a standalone application, shows the company's confidence that the BlackBerry 10 phones to compete with competitors even though BBM is no longer exclusive.
"He talked confidently about this new platform. BlackBerry has not only returned with BlackBerry 10, he also has a vision to expand to other platforms," said Lazaridis.
Lazaridis has previously held the position of CEO when the company was still called Research In Motion (RIM). He was forced to retire from his post in January 2012 due to the pressure of investors who are not able to assess Lazaridis brings BlackBerry separated from adversity.
"After almost 30 years leading, I think it's time for me to start something new," he said.
